The social security benefit rates for the tax year 2010/11 have been published by the Department for Work and Pensions.

Sick pay
The listing reveals no increase in weekly statutory sick pay. It remains at £79.15, as long as an employee has average weekly earnings for Class 1 NICs purposes that reach or exceed £97 a week; £95 during the tax year 2009/10.

Maternity and paternity pay
Although the rate of inflation in the Retail Prices Index was -1.4% between September 2008 and 2009, there is a modest 1.5% increase in the standard rate of statutory maternity, paternity and adoption pay. The rate rises from £123.06 to £124.88 a week, again as long as average weekly earnings reach or exceed £97.
